IS HUCK A GOOD PERSON?
Huck is a good person because he helped a nigger which at that time was very bad for a white person to do. He thought it was a sin from god because he was helping Jim out, so when he began to search for Jim he says “all right then, ill go to he’ll!”(pg.214). This shows how Huck is a good person because helping him was a sin, so for him to steal him back from a slave holder was even worse.
Main conflict- Jim is taken by a slave trader
Climax- Duke and Dauphin get caught as frauds
Q.1- will Huck fall for Dukes trick, or will he realize he really gave away Jims position.
Q.2- Will Huck get Jim back? What will Mrs. Watson do?

Good job with keeping your summaries short. In my opinion you should add a little more detail to the summaries but other than that great job!
DeleteThe summaries are a little too concise. I think a little more detail could be added. You're still doing well as usual!
DeleteI think Huck is a good person because when he found out that Jim was gone he sent a note to her revealing that he is a live and that he was with Jim that whole time.,He was like Batman and he put hisself aside for Jim.

ReplyDeletechapter 23
In this chapter you learn how bad the Duke and the King can be. They play a terrible trick on the townspeople and they cheat them out of their money by running out on their acting show. The reader also gets to learn more information about Jim's family. When Jim tells a story about how he hit his child, and how bad he felt about it, everyone feels a bit sad for Jim. The reader also gets to see Jim's emotional side.
chapter 24
Once again, the king and duke are doing an acting job so they can try and get inheritance money. But they sure did a better acting job this time and Huck was surprised at how well they got away with it.
chapter 25
In this chapter, the duke and king did a very good acting job. Probably because this time there was a lot of money for them if they could pull this off. There was one person, a doctor, who was suspicious but the towns people didn't like the doctor acting like that. They believed the con men. So of course, they ended up with the money.
chapter 26
Huck tries to go along with the con's plan but he doesn't keep his story straight. It is pretty funny. But he does start to feel quilty about the whole plan. Huck comes up with his own plan for the money.
chapter 27
So Huck hides the money and then it is time for the funeral. The funeral was long. The day after the funeral, the king notices the money was gone.
chapter 28
Huck starts to feel guilty and tells Miss Mary Jane the truth about the conmen who are pretending to be her uncles. Huck and Miss Mary Jane come up with a plan so Huck and Jim can get back on the raft and leave the conmen behind.
chapter 29
The conmen's story falls apart when the real uncles show up. The town needs to prove who are the real uncles. When they do, Huck takes off running and joins Jim on the raft but they are not by themselves for very long.
chapter 30
The two conmen turn on each other when they think the other one tried to steal the cash. They end up fighting, getting drunk, and passing out.
chapter 31
The king sold Jim as a slave. Huck is very upset and feels very responsible. He wants to find Jim and free him.
Is Huck a Good Person Or Not ? ***
Huck is a good person because he has a conscience and has feeling when bad thinks are done to good people but he keeps getting caught up in the conmen's games. ( He tells the truth to Miss Mary Jane, Steals the money back and hides it, and he feels responsible for Jim. )
What Is the Main Conflict In The book ? ***
Huck in conflict with himself.
Questions *** 1. Where did Huck hide the money that he stole from the king ?
2. How did the conmen catch back up with Jim and Huck on the raft ?
Good job cam good questions I kinda had the same questions in my head as I was reading.
DeleteChapter 23:
ReplyDeleteHuck and Jim escape on their raft while the Duke and Dauphin are out on a 3 day performance. Jim gets all down because he misses his family and he opens up to Huck which shows his emotional side.
Chapter 24:
Jim gets tied up to a raft while Dauphin is performing in a close by town. Jim complains about being tied up to avoid suspicion so Jim gets disguised in a calico stage robe and blue face paint by the Duke. The Dauphin wants to make a big entrance into the next town so him and Huck get onto this steamboat.
Chapter 25:
The crowd gathers at the Wilks house to watch the Duke and Dauphin meet Wilks’s three nieces. The Duke and the Dauphin find the letters that Wilks leaves behind which is supposed to lead them to a lot of money. (6000$) One of the three nieces then gives them the money.
Chapter 26:
The Dauphin arranges to stay at the Wilks house. Huck has dinner and gets questioned by Joanna, Wilks youngest sister. After feeling bad after getting asked if the whole England story is made up, Huck decides to get the money back to them.
Chapter 27:
Huck hides the money in Peter Wilks coffin. That coffin was later buried and Huck wondered if he should write to Mary Jane to have the coffin dug up. The Duke and Dauphin get exposed. Huck get questioned about the missing money by con men.
Chapter 28:
Huck finds Mary Jane crying over the separation of the slave family. Feeling bad for her Huck then tells her that they will be reunited in two weeks. Confused, Mary Jane questions Huck, he tells her that she needs to wait at a friends house without seeing her two “uncles.” Huck then leaves her with a note on where to find the money. Later that night a mob interrupts the family’s auction with two men claiming to be the real Harvey and William Wilks.
Chapter 29:
All four of the “Wilks” go to get examined. They examine many things on Harvey and William and on Duke and Dauphin. The mob ends up finding the money in the coffin but, by this time Huck and Jim have escaped. Huck and Jim then unexpectedly meet up with Duke and Dauphin.
Chapter 30:
Dauphin nearly strangles Huck out of anger, but the Duke stops him. The Duke and the Dauphin both believe that the other has hidden the gold to retrieve it later.
Chapter 31:
Huck, Jim, Duke, and Dauphin head downstream for several days trying to get away from any rumors of the scams about Duke and Dauphin. Huck, Duke and Dauphin make one stop and go out onto shore hoping to feel the situation out. While they are out Duke and Dauphin get into a fight and Huck sees it as a perfect time to flee the scene. He gets back to the raft and notices that Jim isn’t there. A boy then explained that Jim has been captured and sold to a farmer named Silas Phelps. Huck decides that he will go out and steal Jim back.
Is Huck a good person?
To me yes but to characters in the book no. In that time helping a “Nigger” was something no one ever should do but Huck didn’t care. Another reason he’s a good person is because he actually cares about Jim as in chapter 31 he says “ all right then, ill go to he’ll.”
Main conflict:
Jim gets taken by a slave trader.
Climax:
Duke and Dauphin get exposed.
Questions:
How did Duke and Dauphin know where to find Huck and Jim?
How will Huck steal Jim from Silas Phelps?
Chapter 23: Though “it don’t seem natural,” Huck concludes that Jim loves his family as much as white men love theirs. Jim is torn apart when he hears a thud in the distance that reminds him of the time he beat his daughter Elizabeth for not doing what he told her to do.
ReplyDeletechapter 24: As the duke and the dauphin tie up the raft to work over another town, Jim complains about having to wait, frightened, in the boat, tied up as a runaway slave in order to avoid suspicion, while the others are gone. In response, the duke disguises Jim in a calico stage robe and blue face paint and posts a sign on him that reads, “Sick Arab—but harmless when not out of his head.
chapter 25: A crowd gathers before the Wilks home to watch Wilks’s three nieces tearfully greet the duke and the dauphin, whom they believe to be their English uncles. The entire town then joins in the “blubbering.
chapter 26: The dauphin arranges to stay in the Wilks house. Huck has supper with Joanna, the youngest Wilks sister, whom he calls “the hare-lip” because of her cleft lip, a birth defect. Joanna tests Huck’s knowledge of England, and he makes several slips, forgetting that he is supposedly from Sheffield and that the dauphin is supposed to be a Protestant minister.
chapter 27: Huck comforts himself with the knowledge that the slave family will be reunited in a week or so when the duke and the dauphin are exposed. When the con men question Huck about the missing money, he manages to make them think the Wilks family slaves were responsible for the disappearance.
chapter 28: Mary Jane, overjoyed, asks Huck to explain. Huck feels uneasy, for he has little experience telling the truth while in a predicament. He tells Mary Jane the truth but asks her to wait at a friend’s house until later that night in order to give him time to get away, because the fate of another person also hangs in the balance.
chapter 29: The real Harvey Wilks, in an authentic English accent, explains the reasons he and his brother, William, were delayed their luggage was misdirected, and his mute brother broke his arm, leaving him unable to communicate by signs.
chapter 30: The dauphin nearly strangles Huck out of anger at his desertion, but the duke stops him. The con men explain that they escaped after the gold was found.
chapter 31: Huck tries to pray for forgiveness but finds he cannot because his heart is not in it. Huck writes the letter to Miss Watson. Before he starts to pray, though, he thinks of the time he spent with Jim on the river, of Jim’s kind heart, and of their friendship. Huck trembles. After a minute, he decides, “All right then, I’ll go to hell!” and resolves to “steal Jim out of slavery.
1) where did Huck hid the money?
2) why did Huck leave a note that has the location of the money?
Chapter 23: Huck and Jim make it to their raft, and make their escape when Duke and Dauphin are out on a performence. Jim shows Huck his never before seen emotional side, and about how he misses his family so much.
ReplyDeleteChapter 24: Jim is tied up to the raft. He is scared since he is a runaway slave and he doesn't want to be seen, or heard. So, Jim is given a disguise, and a sign "Sick Arab"
Chapter 25: Since Duke and Dauphin pretended to be related to Wilks, whom was killed, his 3 neices believe Duke and Dauphin are their uncles, and they recieve money.
Chapter 26: Huck is questioned at dinner by Joanna the youngest of the 3 if they are a hoax. Huck feels really bad about lying, and decides to get their money back.
Chapter 27: Huck decides to hide the money in Wilk's casket at the funeral. Huck is questioned about the mssing money that Duke and Dauphin stole from the family.
Chapter 28: Huck starts to feel really bad, so he teels Mary Jane about the whole ordeal. Her and him are now trying to come up with a plan so Huck, Jim, and Mary Jane could escape.
Chapter 29: The real Wilks, and Duke and Dauphin are taken in to find out who are the real Wilks. The money Huck hid in the coffin is recovered, and Huck and Jim escape, only to be reunited with Duke and Dauphin again.
Chapter 30: Dauphin tries to choke Huck, but then Duke stops Dauphin before he could seriously hurt Huck. Duke and Dauphin the decide to make up.
Chapter 31: Huck wants forgiveness from Duke and Dauphin but he can't because he knows they are bad men, and that it's not right. Huck runs away, but Jim was taken, and sold as a slave. Huck desides to try to get Jim back, and to free him again, because that is his best friend in the whole world, and he wanted to set him free, because he couldn't stand the thought of Jim being a slave, and not having him and Jim's friendship anymore.
Is Huck a good person?
Yes, in my oppinion Huck is a great person. So far, he's gotten the real Wilk's money back, he's also saved Jim;s life, and now he's going to save Jim's life again! Huck is a real superhero like we talked about in class, and I would be pround to have him as friend.
Conflict: Jim being sold as a slave
Climax: Duke and Dauphin are rightfully exposed.
Questions:
Question 1: Will Huck save Jim?
Question 2: How did Duke and Dauphin find Huck and Jim after they escaped?
I think you did a good job finding the conflict and climax of the book.
DeleteChap 23- Huck and Duke try to get away and Huck wants to tell Jim whats really going on about those men. Then Jim starts to miss his family and something got into Jim that reminded him the time where he had beat his daughter because she didn't follow directions.
ReplyDeleteChap 24- The two men and Jim and Huck are on the boat and Jim starts to go crazy because hes a run away slave but what if someone looks at him and finds it suspicious which then Jim had to put on clothes with a sign that said "Sick Arab". Then Dauphine finds a man that talks about Wilks death.
Chap 25- When the two men go to Wilks house and tell Wilk's nieces that they are their uncle to give the money. When Duke and Dauphine find the money in the basement they realize that the money is short it was suppose to be $6,000 but there was only $3,000.
Chap 26- Huck, Dauphine and Duke stay at Wilk's house and Joanna questions Huck about England which he makes mistakes on. Then Dauphine found $6,000 dollars in gold and puts it where hes sleeping and sneaks out with it.
Chap 27- Huck hides the money in Wilk's coffin but then realizes what can happen if he leaves the money there with Duke or Dauphine. Then Dauphine sells a slaver mother and her two son which upset ed the Wilk's women.
Chap 28- Huck sees Mary Jane crying because of the fact that the slaves were separated and Huck tells her that they will be reunited. Then Huck tells Susan and Joanna that she went to see a sick friend then two men in a crowd said that they appear to be Harvey and William Wilk's.
Chap 29- Duke and Dauphine were caught to be fraunds and the crowd which lead to Harvey saying that there was a tattoo on Wilk's body. The mob wanted to get them but thast when the $6,000 gold was found in his coffin and Huck almost escapes and was caught by Dauphine and Duke.
Chap 30- Dauphine tries to kill Huck but Duke stops him. Then they make up and go to sleep.
Chap 31- Huck, Jim and the two men are rowing and when they stop at a shore to settle things down while Huck escapes to go to the raft Huck realizes that Jim isn't there. A person tells Huck that Jim was captured and was sold by the handbills that Duke had printed.
I think Huck is a good person because Huck has helped Jim in , hasn't caused as much trouble and hes trying to make people life easier in the book. For example when Huck found out that Jim was taken and sold Huck was upset.
The Main conflict is that Jim has been sold
The climax is that people are starting to be frauds for example Duke and Dauhpine.
Will Jim soon be found ?
Will Duke and Dauphine help to get Jim ?
2 questions answered: I think Jim will stay with his owner because Mrs. Watson is probably going to find out and would want him back.
Huck hid the money in the coffin.
Chapter 23:
ReplyDeleteDuke and Dauphin are performing, and Jim and Huck sail on their raft.
Chapter 24:
Peter Wilks was killed, so Dauphin and Huck go to his hometown for a big gathering.
Chapter 25:
Peter Wilks daughters meet Duke and Dauphin because they think they are two English uncles. Mary Jane gives them $6000.
Chapter 26:
Huck has lunch with Peter’s younger sister who quizzes him about England. Huck tells her that they were fakes after she asks. He feels bad and tries to help get the money back to the family.
Chapter 27:
Huck gets the money back and hides it in the coffin. He doesn’t have the chance to get it back out before the coffin is closed for good. Duke and Dauphin are exposed and when they ask Huck about the money, he blames it on Peter’s slaves.
Chapter 28:
Mary Jane tells Huck that the reason she’s crying is because of the family slave separation. The real two English uncles, Harvey and William, come in a mob saying they are the real uncles.
Chapter 29:
Harvey, William, Dauphin, and Duke get examined to see who the real uncles are. Once again Duke and Dauphin get exposed. The $6000 is found in the coffin and Jim and Huck steal a canoe to get their raft, where they see Dauphin and Duke.
Chapter 30:
Dauphin chokes Huck for trying to leave, but after Duke breaks it up, they soon makeup.
Chapter 31:
Huck, Jim, Duke, and Dauphin continue to travel on the raft. They make a stop and Huck tries to escape. When he gets back to the raft, Jim is nowhere to be found. Duke writes a note to Mrs. Watson saying that Jim is in the hands of a slave holder.
I feel Huck is a good person, but he was put in a bad situation. I say this because he was abandoned by his father. When a child isn't wanted by their parent it is a really hard feeling. Also, he help Jim, a black slave, travel up North. During the slavery time period, if a white person was helping a black person with escaping, they might be lynched right next to the slave. This is how he I a good friend as well because not only is he risking Jim’s life but he’s risking his own life by helping Jim escape.
The main conflict is Jim being held by the slave owner vs. the climax which is Dauphin and Duke being exposed.
Nice summaries they aren't going into to much detail. Good job
