  1. Julio Leon Period 5:

"When any government, or any church for the matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, This you may not read , this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression no matter how holy the motives." - Robert A. Heinlein

I feel like this quote interprets well the main idea of how the animals are being oppressed without realizing it until clarity and wisdom comes along (Mayor) no matter if it benefits another group in this case the offering and labor of the animals benefit the humans. But at the end of the day its sill oppression in disguise or in secret and silence. And how this is relevant in today's society how no matter how good it may seem it will always reject and harm individuals or bodies of people.

    1. I agree with your explanation to this quote, because it does show how the animals needed clarity to understand what was really happening to them. Also, how what was happening to them was wrong.

This qoute goes with the main idea because it shows that the workers are only used for what they have and when what they have fails or doesnt work anymore the boss gets rid of them.

    1. I really like this quote becuae it does a very good job of summarizing the concept of how some people are very quick to "despose" of others once they become "useless" to a cause.

    2. This quote really does support the main idea, because it shows how the human are only using the animals for their "good" but as soon as they can't provide that "good" anymore there is no use for them.

    3. This quote represents the idea that the animals are treated bad and I think that is what the beginning of the book mainly focuses on.

This quote goes with the main idea because its saying that no matter how hard you try, utopia is impossiable.

    Quote
“Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove man from the scene and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished for ever. Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.”
This quote from chapter one supports the main idea because this quote was what lead most of the other animals to believing and going along with what old Major was telling them. That speech was what convinced the other animals to rebel against the humans and stick up for themselves and what's rightfully theirs. They didn’t stand for it anymore so they stood up for themselves and scared any human from messing with them anymore.

    6. I agree with this quote and your explanation because Major is saying that the humans are controlling the animals but the humans aren't doing anything for the animals. Also, I do believe that this is what really got all of the animals on board with the rebellion.

"I do not know when that Rebellion will come, it might be in a week or in a hundred years, but I know, as surely as I see this straw beneath my feet, that sooner or later justice will be done."

This Quote from chapter one goes along with the main idea because Major's saying that one day there will be change a.k.a the Rebellion and it could happen at any second. So Major's advice to the rest of the farm is they're should be no hatred between one another because they all share the same enemy MAN.

"(30) This helps support the idea that they believe humans are the downfall of society . Without them this world would be a better place. So now they are trying to kill all the human race so the world can be better . The book is about how their plotting to destroy all humans .They are oppressed now but won't be when they wipe out the human race. -Rachelle McCalla

  13. "Four legs good, two legs bad." This quote summarizes the beginning of the book because the animals wanted to rebel against their farm owner, Mr. Jones. This quote shows that the animals made a distinction between the two so they would know who was on their side and who was not.

  15. "It is summed up in a single word- Man. Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove Man from the scene, and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished forever"(pg 7). This quote shows how the animals feel about "Man". They say man is the cause of "hunger and overwork" so the animals believe that they aren't being treated right by Mr. Jones so they have much anger towards the human race.

    1. Yes I do agree. I agree because the "Man" are the reason all the animals suffer. If they take away man from the farm all the animals will be happier and they won't have to worry anymore.

This quote ties in with the main idea, because the animals are starting to recall what Major was saying in his speech about "Man" taking and taking, but won't give, or provide them with proper nourishment to produce all these things.

  18. " Comrade', said Snowball firmly. "Those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than ribbons"(17)? This quote connects to the main idea because after Major spoke to the other animals, they rebelled against Man and got freedom. Therefore, Snowball is saying that taking off the ribbons is showing that they're officially free.

Remove man from the scene, and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished for ever"(7). This quote shows the main idea of the beginning of the book because it really shows the strong and negative feelings that Major and the rest of the animals have toward "Man" because of how badly they are mistreated by "Man". It also shows how Major is fed up with this abuse and is ready to do something about it.

  21. The quote that I chose was on pg 29 " Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is to weak to pull the plough... I choose the quote because it shows some reasons why major wants the animals to rebell against the human. I believe the quote means they are tired of doing all the humans dirty work.

    1. The animals are very much fed up with being the working class, having to work, and receive noting but "abuse" in return, at the hands of man.

    2. The animals are beginning to realize that they shouldn't be subjected to the will of Man and that they should have their own task and purpose. In their eyes all they do is work till near death and receive "abuse and torment".

  23. Chloe Francis: "Ribbons" "Should be considered as clothes, which are the mark of the human being. All animals should go naked." (p.21)

Quoted from Snowball, one of Old Majors replacements, he is stating that any attribute of the human, from clothes to accessories, are counted as "evil" and "taboo", and should not be worn by animals, as how i interpreted it. The concept of animalism is another form of communism, the "government" deciding whats best for the community, over personal interests *of* the community.

I chose this quote for the main idea because it show that they aren't sure when but they will fight back against the humans. These animals are trying to come together to overcome/overthrow the humans

  25. "Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is to weak to pull the plough..." (29). This quote means a lot because it shows that Major is trying to implant in the other animal's heads that humans can't do what they do. Major is implementing that without the animals, the humans wouldn't be there.

  26. "Those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than ribbons"(17)? I chose this quote for the main idea because when Major had spoken to the animals, they soon rebelled against the man and got their freedom. Snowball is referring that by taking the ribbons off it's showing that the animals are finally free.

  27. "Is it not crystal clear, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours springs from the tyranny of human beings? Only get rid if Man, and the produce of our labour would be our own"(8). This quote supports the main idea of the beginning of the book because it portrays the overall views of the leaders of the animal farm. It is also one of the quotes that lead the animals into their collective rebellion.

  33. “Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove man from the scene and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished for ever" I Think this a AMAZING quote and the main idea of the entire story. It describes not only the idea of the book (The animals being oppressed and herded by humans) but can also be looked at alot today in some of the ideas of the current word state. It Incites rebellion for the animals and captures the destruction man creates and does to others as well as themselves.
